A green open space around a Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) are nature-based solutions designed to manage surface water runoff by mimicking natural hydrology, reducing flood risks, and improving water quality. This will support invertebrates and water birds. Some wooded areas to the perimeter and recent planting will enhance the space. There is a Friends of Leach Grove group which look after this space.
Leach Grove Green Space links Bates Avenue south west along a wide tarmac path to Sugar Hill Park. Leach Grove and Sugar hill combined are 3.6 Ha of Council Land. The path running along West Beck and adjacent to Cockerton Allotments emerges in Cockerton Village where there are coffee shops and take away food.
Sugar Hill has been subject to some recent tree planting but also has mature trees seating with good views from the top of the park and open grassland.
