A small site dominated by a pond and wet woodland. It is close to Drinkfield Marsh, Brinkburn and West Park. There are wetlands and ponds in this area, the biggest being Brinkburn Pond. This area is heavily wooded and runs for 11.89 Ha around the back of houses.
To the west Honey Pot Lane connects you to Brinkburn Avenue and HoneyPot Lane to the east connects to Whessoe Road. The Faverdle Black Path links to the industrial Estate and further to West Auckland road. There are paths and cycle routes through most of this area for all to enjoy.
A short distance along the Faverdale Black Path is Faverdale Park which has a recent tree plantation and play area. The park is a short distance from West Park and Cockerton Village where there are coffee shops and take away food.
The reserve provides a valuable wildlife corridor through this part of Darlington to the edge of the town. The wetlands and pond support invertebrates such as dragonflies, bat and water bird species such as Coots. The area to the north also supports a wildflower meadow which include knapweed and red clover which support bees and meadow brown butterfly
Honey Pot Lane and the black path form the route of a former railway and Stooperdale Junction the site of old sidings and railway wagon works. The paths are old railway beds on which ran the Darlington to Barnard Castle railway bringing coal in from the Pennines. Brinkburn pond was created as part of the steel works. Stooperdale offices on Brinkburn Road remain as part of Darlington's railway heritage.The main access points are
